North Huron snowmobiler accused of impaired driving

Whether operating a car, truck or... snowmobile, impaired driving is impaired driving.

That is the reminder from Huron OPP after officers on patrol in the Village of Blyth stopped a snowmobile around 11:50 p.m. last Saturday. Officers determined the snowmobiler had consumed alcohol prior to operating the machine and took him into custody.

The man was taken to the OPP detachment in Clinton and where he provided breath samples that showed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system, police said.

A 21-year-old North Huron man is charged with impaired driving. His snowmobile has also been impounded for seven days and his driver's licence suspended for 90 days.

The man has been released from police custody and will appear at the Goderich courthouse in relation to the charge on February 24.
