Construction is set to begin at the Wingham and District Hospital for a new CT scanner.
The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance says construction will begin on January 20.
A media release from the Alliance says that the addition of the CT scanner "represents a major advancement for the hospital, aligning with the standard of care for emergency departments. This cutting-edge technology will provide essential diagnostic services closer to home, ensuring timely and accurate medical assessments for our community."
Acquiring the new CT scanner was made possible through many generous donations including funds accrued during the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation's "Caring Together" campaign.
The new CT scanner is expected to be operational by this summer.
"We are thrilled to bring this advanced diagnostic tool to Wingham and District Hospital," said Dr. Sean Henderson, Physician and Emergency Medicine Lead. "The new CT scanner will not only improve patient outcomes but also help us attract and retain key healthcare providers, including physicians, to our area."
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the 'Caring Together' campaign," said Nicole Duquette-Jutzi, Executive Director, Wingham and District Hospital Foundation. "Your support has been instrumental in bringing this vital technology to our hospital, and we look forward to the positive impact it will have on our patients and healthcare providers."
