Snow squalls expected off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay this weekend. What: Snowfall accumulations of 20 to 40 cm. Locally higher amounts possible. Poor visibility in areas of heavy snow and blowing snow. When: Beginning tonight or Saturday morning, and continuing into Sunday. Additional information: Lake effect snow squalls are expected to develop tonight near Lake Huron due to increasing southwest winds. As winds become more westerly Saturday morning, the lake effect activity will spread farther inland. Westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will create areas of blowing snow, further reducing visibility. Winds will become more northerly on Saturday night, which will cause the lake effect snow bands to shift. Lake effect bands off Georgian Bay will also affect areas south of it. Conditions should improve over all areas by Monday morning. ### Travel may be hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
