Two arrests have been made and dozens of charges were laid following a 10-month-long human trafficking investigation.

Dubbed Project Nebula, the Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-led Joint Forces Strategy (IJFS) investigation spanned southern Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said two individuals were arrested in Ottawa on July 9, 2024. A 45-year-old from Brampton, Ontario and a 33-year-old from Sydney, Nova Scotia face a total of 36 human trafficking and human trafficking-related charges.

Three female victims were identified over the course of the investigation and police believe there could be more.

"The victims in this investigation have been referred to dedicated victim services to ensure they receive continued support," an OPP release said.

No further details will be released about the case as a publication ban has been issued.
