There will be minimal disruptions for visitors when the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre undergoes renovations this spring.
The building at 33 Victoria Street North in Southampton will be getting a new roof and climate control systems. The work is expected to take approximately three months to complete.
“This investment is about more than the facility,” said Bruce County Warden Luke Charbonneau. “This is part of a continued effort to preserve Bruce County’s history and ensure an excellent experience for all who come to explore our museum and participate in its exhibits, archives, and programming.”
The replacement of the museum's aging heating and cooling systems will better preserve archived diaries, photographs, family trees, historical records, and documents from Bruce County's past. Additionally, it will improve visitor comfort in the space, museum officials have said.
Regular programming and access to the museum will be maintained throughout the work, with few service disruptions anticipated. Visitors will be able to safely enter the museum through its main entrance. Some construction noise is to be expected for those on-site and people who live near the museum.
