A Hanover woman has been charged after allegedly making a fake call to 911.
According to Hanover Police, officers responded to a call on October 20 around 2 p.m., after the woman allegedly reported being struck by a stray bullet when gun shots were fired downtown.
Officers arrived on scene and said the woman continued to claim she had been shot and required an ambulance. However, there was no evidence of a shooting, injuries, or an emergency.
The woman was arrested and charged with public mischief, failure to comply with a release order, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. She is set for a court appearance next month.
The Hanover Police Service reminds the public that knowingly making false reports to police is a serious offence as fake emergency calls divert valuable resources away from individuals who may genuinely require immediate assistance.
