Arthur native charged following crash in Mapleton

A crash in Mapleton Township has resulted in impaired driving charges for an Arthur native.

On January 24 at 7:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP say that officers responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver who was involved in a single-vehicle collision into a ditch on Highway 6 in Mapleton Township.

Police arrived and placed a 34-year-old driver from Arthur under arrest. The driver was then charged with impaired driving, and driving with an open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on February 6.

Additionally, the driver's vehicle was impounded for 7 days and their license has been suspended for 90 days.
