Another yellow cold warning for southwestern Ontario

Southern Ontario continues to feel the grasp of Old Man Winter, and it appears the grasp will be there for a while.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for extreme cold, for the second time in a week.

"Bitterly cold conditions are expected [Monday night] into Tuesday morning with wind chills near minus-25 to minus-30," read the warning from Environment Canada. "Wind chill values will moderate through the day Tuesday, but are still expected to be minus-15 to minus-20."

The wind chills may be pushed down by wind gusts of 50 kilometres per hour.

Extreme cold may be detrimental to health. Those more susceptible include babies and young children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those who are sleeping rough.

Frostbite can develop within minutes in extreme cold on unprotected skin. Dressing in layers with exposed skin covered is the most effective form of defence.
