West Region OPP say there will be no charges laid in connection with the fatal collision that claimed the lives of four students and a teacher from Walkerton District Community School.
The collision occurred in Middlesex County at the intersection of Thorndale Road and Cobble Hills Road on May 23, 2025. Olivia Rourke, Rowan McLeod, Kaydance Ford, Danica Baker, and Matt Eckert died in the accident, on their way back from a softball tournament.
OPP said the victims were in an SUV that collided with a transport truck and another SUV.
In a social media post issued Tuesday night, Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said following a comprehensive review of the evidence, police determined that no charges will be laid.
"The OPP wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic event. Our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time," he said. "We also express out appreciation to the public and media for their cooperation throughout the course of this investigation."
Police will not be releasing any more information on the matter.
