A number of students from across the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) are celebrating big wins at the Skills Ontario Competition.
Eloise Stock-Bateman of St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford took home gold in the aesthetics competition. Also capturing gold was Becket Noble, Connor Adams, Noble Diepstra and Vaughn Bachert of Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Wingham in the construction category.
Taking home bronze in mechanical engineering was Cohen Taylor, George Davidson, Hayden Rathwell, Callum Dykstra of St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School in Clinton. A team from the same school, made up of Reagan O’Brien, Nora Glutzen, Maeva Blake and Myla Lobb won bronze in the first ever landscaping competition, as well.
A press release from the school board states that these wins "are a direct result of the Board’s commitment to providing hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for the 21st-century workforce."
