Bruce County hires new Director of Human Services

Bruce County has hired a new Director of Human Services.

A media release from the county shares that Ian Hanney will fill the role as he joins the County’s Senior Leadership Team.

Ian will "provide strategic planning and operational leadership in the management of Children’s Services, Housing Services, Income and Support Services, as well as implementation of strategic community initiatives," according to the release.

Hanney joins Bruce County after serving previously as the Manager for Homelessness Prevention and Social Planning in the County of Lambton. He has over a decade of experience in leadership positions.

Hanney has served on numerous committees, including the Lambton Community Safety and Well-Being Steering Committee, Drug and Alcohol Strategy Steering Committee, and Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee. He holds an honours bachelor of health sciences degree and a master’s in public health.

"It is a great pleasure to offer congratulations to Ian Hanney on his appointment as Bruce County’s new director of human services," commented Bruce County Warden Luke Charbonneau. "Ian’s experience and leadership will help us continue to build new relationships and foster innovative solutions for delivering human services to the community."

Hanney will begin his new role with Bruce County effective May 25, 2026.
