Bruce County approves $100K loan for IPM

Bruce County council is providing a loan to organizers of the 2026 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, who are bringing the event back to the region.

The 2026 IPM will mark the 50-year anniversary of the first time the international show came to Bruce County. It will take place in the same location as that 1976 IPM, at the corner of Durham Road and Bruce Road 3, west of Walkerton.

The Bruce County Plowmens Association presented to council back in February, and asked for financial support.

At Thursday's meeting, council approved an interest-free $100,000 loan, to aid in the planning and delivery of the event. The report from staff suggested that "an initial advance of $25,000 be provided upon signing the agreement, with the remaining $75,000 available in one or more installments as expenses are incurred."

The loan is to be repaid in full by December 31, 2026.

Along with financial support, Bruce County holds an advisory role on the 2026 IPM's executive committee.

Those that are looking to get involved with the event can reach out to the Bruce County Plowmens Association at 519-379-0821 or brucecountyipm@gmail.com.
