Drug stronger than fentanyl seized in Saugeen Shores

Saugeen Shores police have confirmed one of the drugs seized during a traffic stop in the town earlier this year was fluorofentanyl.

The vehicle was stopped, with the assistance of the criminal investigations unit, in the area of Bricker Street and Gustavus Street. Inside, officers found different coloured substances in small baggies. Samples of the drugs were sent for analysis which confirmed them to be cocaine, methamphetamine, and fluorofentanyl.

"Fluorofentanyl can be up to two times as strong as fentanyl, which itself is approximately 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine," police said in a statement on Thursday.

A 30-year-old man from Brampton is charged with three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
