Stratford police crack down on speeders during four-day blitz

Acting on concerns from the public about excessive speeding on a residential street in the city, Stratford police launched a four-day speed enforcement blitz.

Officers targeted drivers speeding down St Vincent Street South at various times of the day last Thursday through Sunday.

Eight drivers were ticketed during that time, police said.

"Speeding remains the leading cause of collisions on our roads and it is well known that the higher the speed of the vehicles

involved in a crash, the higher the likelihood of injuries are to the occupants of those vehicles," police said in a statement. "It is important that we continue working closely with our community members, as it allows us to target areas where problems exist and work together to create safer roads, and a safer community overall."

Police also offered thanks to members of the public who brought their concerns regarding speeding in the area to the police service's attention.
