The Chatham Maroons are the 2025 Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) champions.
They beat the St. Catharines Falcons 6-3 on Sunday in Game 6 to capture the Sutherland Cup.
Neither team was able to score in the first period.
The Maroons would find the back of the net four times in the first eight minutes of the second period.
The first was scored by Connor Hunt. His 10th of the postseason was assisted by Eamon Edgar and Noah Mathieson.
Doubling the lead was Carter Chadwick with his 14th goal. The only helper on the play went to Ian Lachance.
Edgar scored his 8th to extend the lead to three goals. Mathieson and Hunt with the assists.
Capping the scoring for the Maroons in the period was Hunt with his second of the game. Edgar with the only assist.
St. Catharines would get one goal before the end of the period thanks to Brendan Grenville.
Nathan Duplessis got another one back for St. Catharines before William Moore got the team within a goal.
That's as close as they would get as Chadwick and Mathieson added two empty net goals to clinch the win with under a minute left in regulation.
This is the second time the Maroons have won the Sutherland Cup. They first hosted the cup back in 1999, beating the Stratford Cullitons.
The Maroons made it to the GOJHL finals twice since, losing in 2004 to the Thorold Blackhawks and in 2022 to the Falcons.
