Crime in Windsor and Amherstburg remains lower than last year's numbers.
Windsor police shared the crime statistics for March on social media on Saturday, showing a decline that has been maintained throughout 2026.
Property crimes saw a drastic decrease of 13 per cent compared to the same month a year prior.
Windsor police noted there were 762 complaints for crimes against property, which is 114 less than March last year. Offences include arson, break and enter, theft, mischief, and possession of stolen property. However, fraud saw a 10 per cent increase.
Crimes against people also saw a decline of 11.3 per cent.
The statistics show that there were 243 reports of crime, which is 31 fewer cases than in March 2025. Offenses showing a decline include abduction, assault, and sexual violations. Robbery, other violence, as well as threats and harassment, saw an increase compared to last year.
Windsor police attribute the decline to fewer reported assaults and sexual offences.
Criminal Code crimes not included in the other two categories increased by 13.8 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Crimes under this category include child sexual abuse and exploitation material, gambling and betting offences, non-violent weapons complaints, and administration of justice violations.
Police explained the increase is mainly due to bail violations.
Windsor Police Service explained these statistics help it track trends and respond where needed, adding that reporting crimes is a necessity to better understand what's happening throughout the area.
