UPDATE: One dead in Hwy. 21 roundabout crash

Provincial police say a "serious crash" that closed part of Highway 21 in Georgian Bluffs has claimed the life of one person.

According to the OPP, around 9:30 a.m. on August 12 they responded alongside Grey County Paramedic Services and the Intertownship Fire Department to a report of a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle.

As a result, the entire roundabout at Highway 21 and the Grey Bruce Line/Bruce Road 10 was closed for all traffic travelling northbound, southbound, eastbound and westbound for several hours, re-opening just after 3:30 p.m. 

Police have now confirmed that one person has died as a result of the crash. The victim, a 92-year-old driver from Muskoka Lakes, was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The 85-year-old passenger from Muskoka Lakes was transported to a trauma centre with life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash and anyone who may have witnessed it or has any information is asked to contact Grey Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
