Bruce County council has recognized 11 members of the Bruce County Paramedic Services team for their lifesaving efforts.
This week's meeting on September 4 began with the Prehospital Cardiac Save Awards, which recognize the efforts of paramedics who provided lifesaving treatment to a patient who had no vital signs. The patients were able to leave the hospital after a cardiac event thanks to the early actions of the responder.
The county extended their congratulations to four members who earned their first save award back in 2021, but were unable to be congratulated because of the pandemic: Shaun Bredl, Michael Donnelly, Brittney Kealey, and Courtney Trotter.
There were also four members who earned their first save award in 2024: Michael Bohnert, Connor Charette, Ben Rees, and Chris Wynn.
The County also extended congratulations to Josh Allan, who earned a pin for his fifth Prehospital Cardiac Save Award this year. Allan has nine cardiac saves during his career. Pins are awarded at every fifth benchmark up to the 25 successful save.
Finally, Marilyn Ballagh and Ken Johnstone both received the 2024 Medical Directors’ Commendation Award which acknowledges the critical decision-making in delivering exceptional care in a prehospital setting.
"Thank you for your outstanding service to our community," commended Bruce County Warden Luke Charbonneau. "Your efforts make a difference, and we appreciate your continued service and dedication."
