Attack acquire overage defender Leonard from Knights

The Owen Sound Attack have acquired some veteran help for the blue line.

Attack GM Dale DeGray has announced a trade to bring veteran overage defender Alec Leonard in from the London Knights. London is receiving a conditional pick, the Attack's 14th Round pick in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection.

Leonard was originally drafted in the 2nd round, 27th overall, by the Niagara Ice Dogs in 2020. The Toronto native split his first three years between Niagara and London, amassing two goals and 34 assists in 197 Ontario Hockey League games.

Leonard will join the Attack for the upcoming weekend slate of games and will wear number 19. His first appearance will be Thursday, October 24 against Windsor.

"The Attack would like to welcome Alec and his family to the Attack organization. With the injury to Konnor Smith, we were looking for an experienced puck moving defenceman who brings some grit to the game. Alec checks all those boxes off for us," said DeGray.  "Being a right shot defenceman is a bonus and having already played a couple of years in the Western Conference is another plus. We’re excited to have Alec as part of our group and look forward to seeing him in jersey."
