Georgian Bluffs begins Road Renewal Program

A number of selected streets will be repaved in Georgian Bluffs over the next month following a $1.5 million investment in road improvements.

That investment was budgeted by council for this fall, with the work being done by Kon-Strutt Construction. It is expected to begin in mid-October, weather permitting.

Work will begin with removal of the existing road surface, followed by grading, compaction and paving. Full road closures are not expected, though traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct traffic and help ensure safe travel through construction zones. Delays should be expected.

A total of 11 roadways are being worked on during the project timeframe. Five of those will be in Shallow Lake, four in the Brooke area, one in Big Bay and a section of Presqu'ile Road, as well.

The full list of roads being worked on is as follows:

· Noble Street (Shallow Lake) – Princess Street south to First Street

· First Street (Shallow Lake) – Second Street west to dead-end

· Second Street (Shallow Lake) – Princess Street south to 248 m

· Allen Street (Shallow Lake) – Cruickshank Street to Lake Street

· Lake Street (Shallow Lake) – Allen Street to dead-end

· Somers Street (Brooke area) – 14th Street West to 16th Street West

· Finden Street (Brooke area) – Dead-end to 19th Street West and 19th Street West to 20th Street West

· Carney Street (Brooke area) – 29th Street West to end

· Carney Street (Brooke area) – 16th Street West to 19th Street West
