A recent memorial walk raised over $10,000 for the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation.
The first annual Joey Havers Memorial Walk was held on June 13 and raised $10,554. The walk was organized by Mary Havers, who was inspired to create a legacy of generosity of her brother Joey, who passed away in August 2025. Joey was beloved in the Wingham area for his kindness and commitment to the community.
Over 60 walkers showed up at the Wingham Community Walking Trail for the 15km walk from Wingham to Teeswater. The walkers made the trek in just over three hours and collected pledges along the way.
The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation shared in a media release that the foundation is grateful to Mary and all those who walked, cheered on, and showed support through their generous donations. The funds raised will help bring a new ultrasound machine to the hospital.
