High heat hitting Midwestern Ontario before cooling off

A yellow heat warning is in effect from Environment Canada on Tuesday as temperatures are expected to swell near 30 degrees.

Environment Canada says that daytime highs will be near 30 degrees celsius with humidex values near 36 all day on Tuesday.

The temperature will cool off later tonight and into Wednesday, with a daytime high of just 10 degrees expected.

Temperatures may be cooler along the lake shores.

To stay safe during high heat events, take action to protect yourself and others. Determine if you or others around you are at greater risk of heat illness. Check on older adults, those living alone and other at-risk people in-person or on the phone multiple times a day.

Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others. Signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, stop your activity and drink water.

Be sure to drink water often and before you feel thirsty to replace fluids. Close blinds, or shades and open windows if outside is cooler than inside.
