Hanover CAO retiring, council begins search for replacement

The Town of Hanover says that Chief Administrative Officer Sherri Walden will retire at the end of the year.

Walden has served the town in various capacities for nearly 35 years, spending the last four years as CAO after a long stint in the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department.

Hanover has initiated a recruitment process to help find Walden's replacement. Council has retained Waterhouse Executive Search to lead the search. Council also has appointed a CAO Recruitment Ad Hoc Committee consisting of Mayor Paterson, Deputy Mayor Dickert, and Councillor Hudson.

The CAO position for the Town of Hanover was posted as of April 29. Walden will be continuing in her role throughout the recruitment process and will help with the transition period for her replacement.

"During her time with the Town of Hanover, Sherri has been an exceptional leader who exemplified true dedication to public service, our residents and the broader region," Mayor Sue Paterson said. "Under her leadership both as CAO and previously in our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, the Town has achieved significant progress on key strategic priorities, strengthened positive local and regional relationships, and continued to deliver high-quality municipal services. We are deeply grateful for her vision, guidance, and commitment over more than three decades of leadership."

"It has been a privilege to serve the Town of Hanover for almost my entire career," Walden said. "I’m sincerely grateful to past and present members of council for their support and collaboration, and to our dedicated staff team for the passion, integrity and positivity they bring to their work each day. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together for our community."
