Grey Wellington Theatre Guild presents Having Hope at Home

This season's Grey Wellington Theatre Guild inaugural production offers a mix of comedy and heartfelt family drama.

Having Hope at Home opens Friday at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre.

Director Caroline Wollis explained the production focuses on a family coming together during a life-changing moment.

"The play takes place on a cold winter night in an old farmhouse in Ontario. It's a young couple who are living with her grandfather. And she's planning a wonderful dinner for her estranged parents. Now things don't go as she planned," Wollis continued. "She's counting on her partner and Grandfather to help her, and she also needs the cooperation of her unborn baby and the midwife. As tensions rise between this dysfunctional family, so does the laughter. It takes a baby to heal the rift in this funny, heartwarming story of forgiveness and hope."

The show offers audiences a glimpse into complicated family dynamics, where laughter and conflict often go hand in hand.

Wollis added that after weeks of rehearsals, the cast is ready to bring the Canadian play to life on stage.

"We have six very experienced actors, who have been a joy to work with, and they're a lot of fun," she shared. "And we have a wonderful cast and crew, because it takes a team!"

The show runs April 24, April 25 and May 1 at 7 p.m., as well as April 26 and May 3 at 2 p.m.
