Community clean-up returning to Georgian Bluffs

Georgian Bluffs residents are being asked to grab their trash bags, and maybe a friend, to help clean up roadsides, trails and other public spaces in the township.

The second annual Georgian Bluffs Community Clean-up gets underway on Wednesday, which is also Earth Day. It will continue through Ontario's Provincial Day of Action on Litter on May 12.

“We had an amazing turnout for the community clean-up last year, with more than 175 participants collecting over 200 bags of litter,” said Riel Warrilow, the township's environmental initiatives officer. “Collective action makes a real and lasting difference, and it’s inspiring to see how much we can accomplish when we all pitch in.”

As part of the community clean-up, people taking part will be provided free bag tags so the collected garbage can be placed at the curb at no extra cost. Participants are also encouraged to share before-and-after photos of the spaces they clean on social media, using #TrashTagGB.

People or teams interested in participating can register and pick up their free bag tags at the township office.
