Residents urged not to mistake teen game for suspicious activity

A reminder is being issued for residents across Midwestern Ontario not to be alarmed if they notice unusual behaviour from local teenagers in the coming weeks.

A game known as "Senior Assassin" is currently underway, involving high school students taking part in a water-based elimination challenge.

Participants use water guns to "tag" assigned targets, often leading to scenes of teens hiding behind vehicles, running through parking lots, or staging surprise ambushes in public places.

While the activity is meant to be a lighthearted end-of-year tradition, police in some areas have previously raised concerns about public safety, noting that the use of realistic-looking water guns can be mistaken for real weapons.

Residents are being asked to remain aware of the trend, but not to panic if they see what appears to be suspicious behaviour involving teenagers with water guns.
