Grey Bruce Public Health's MOH leaving role

Dr. Ian Arra is leaving his role as Medical Officer of Health for Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH).

The news was confirmed in a press release issued on Thursday by the Ministry of Health, which has been overseeing GBPH's board since August of 2025. At that time, the province's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, cited "serious concerns" with the governance of the board.

In the release, the ministry indicated that Dr. Arra will officially leave his role effective May 4. He will be replaced by Dr. Brittany Graham, GBPH’s Public Health Physician Consultant. Dr. Graham is assuming the responsibilities of the role as of April 16, with Dr. Arra offering support until he officially leaves next month.

The release, which was issued by Special Advisors to the Chief Medical Officer of Health Jim Pine and Dr Eileen de Villa, also states that since last fall, Dr. Arra and the GBPH staff "have been working with us towards a renewed and strengthened Health Unit."

"I believe this is the right time for this transition and I have full confidence in the Grey Bruce Public Health Team to continue the important work of protecting and promoting the health of our communities," Dr. Arra shared. "I am deeply grateful to the dedicated staff for their professionalism and commitment that makes Grey Bruce Public Health exceptional as well as to the Boards of Health and Board members, the Ministry of Health and the Province for their support during the pandemic and recovery. I also want to thank our community members and partners – your collaboration has been essential to our success."
