Midwestern Ontarians were greeted Tuesday morning by heavy rain, intense lightning, and roaring thunder.
The second round of rain to fall this week moved into the region overnight.
Environment Canada anticipates 10 to 35 millimetres of rain will fall, depending on which part of midwestern Ontario you are in, before the precipitation breaks later Tuesday. A yellow-level rainfall warning is in effect for Bruce and Grey counties, while a special weather statement is in place for Huron, Perth, and northern Wellington counties.
A yellow-level severe thunderstorm watch for Huron County was ended just after 8 a.m.
According to the national weather agency the expected break in showers will be short-lived, with another round of heavy rain set to move into the region tomorrow.
Water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas is anticipated because the ground is already near saturation, hindering its ability to absorb further rainfall.
