Seedy Saturday coming soon in Owen Sound

Spring is getting a head start in Owen Sound with a celebration of all things green, growing, and community-driven.

Seedy Saturday is set to take root on March 28 at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library, inviting residents to dig into the world of gardening, sustainability, and local food. Running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the free event promises to bring together a lively mix of plant lovers, growers, and curious beginners looking to get their hands a little dirty.

Inside, visitors will find a vibrant hub of local knowledge and inspiration. Experts and organizations from across the region will be on hand to share tips on everything from seed saving and permaculture to backyard gardening and supporting native pollinators. It’s a chance to connect directly with the people behind local food production and green initiatives, all in one place.

A highlight of the day is the Houseplant Cutting Swap N Share, where participants can trade clippings and expand their indoor jungles. For those just starting out, the Seed Lending Library offers a unique opportunity to borrow seeds, grow them at home, and later return new seeds to keep the cycle going for others.

Families are also encouraged to attend, with a children’s potting table giving young gardeners the chance to plant their own seeds and take home something to nurture and watch grow.

According to a media release from the library, Seedy Saturday is designed to inspire gardeners of all experience levels while showcasing the passion and expertise rooted in the local area.
