North Perth Mayor's budget amendment puts tax levy up to 7.15 per cent

North Perth Council has endorsed budget amendment made by Mayor Todd Kasenberg that will see the 2026 tax levy rise slightly.

A media release on the municipality's website shares that council supported the amendment that Kasenberg made under the Strong Mayor Powers framework. These amendments reflect "updated cost information" after council initially passed the budget back on December 2, 2025.

The release states that "key changes relate to externally controlled services, including the Ontario Provincial Police contract and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority levy."

Also, the amendment removes the operating budget for Perth Meadows, as that property was transferred to United Housing.

The updated budget will see an increase of $118,025 on the originally passed budget, bringing the total general levy to $23,194,694. This represents a combined tax increase of 7.15 per cent, or approximately $173.82 annually ($14.49 per month) for a median residential property.

The original budget had a levy increase of 6.61 per cent.

There are three capital projects also included and those will be funded from reserves, with no impact to the levy.
