Stratford Warriors vow to "take action" after London Nationals player subjected to racist taunts

The Stratford Warriors are promising to "take appropriate action" after a London Nationals player was subjected to racist taunts during a playoff game.

During game 3 of their first round series in the GOHL playoffs on Monday, March 16, a London Nationals player had racial taunts directed their way by someone in the arena stands at the William Allman Memorial Arena, where the Warriors play their home games.

The Nationals put out a statement on the team's "X" account following the incident.

The Warriors released an official statement on the team website, noting that the team wants to be "unequivocally clear: there is no place in our game, our arena, or our community for racist or discriminatory language of any kind."

Additionally, the team states that it is working with arena staff and league officials regarding the incident. The Warriors also stated that they will be "taking appropriate action" in the statement on the website.

"This behaviour does not reflect the values of our organization, our players or the vast majority of our fans. We sincerely apologize to the player, their team and their organization for what occurred," the Warriors added.
