It won't feel much like spring for parts of midwestern Ontario on Friday as the new season arrives with freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow.
Environment Canada has a yellow-level freezing rain warning in effect for southern Grey, southern Bruce, and northern Wellington counties where ice build-up of 2 to 5 millimetres is expected throughout the morning. The freezing rain will switch over to regular rain as the temperature rises above zero later in the day.
A special weather statement is in place for northern Grey County and the Bruce Peninsula. Those areas could see 2 to 5 centimetres of snow or ice pellets fall by early Friday afternoon.
The wintry mix could cause slowdowns on the afternoon commute as roads and walkways are expected to be slippery.
Spring officially arrives at 10:46 a.m.
