Update: One dead, two critically hurt in crash near Sebringville

One person has been pronounced dead after a serious crash that shut down a main route between Mitchell and Stratford on Friday morning. 

Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle collision on Hwy 8 between Perth roads 140 and 145 west of Sebringville around 5:30 a.m.

Three people were taken to hospital by Ornge Air Ambulance.

According to Perth OPP, a 35-year-old driver from one vehicle was pronounced deceased at the hospital, while two others from the second vehicle remain in critical condition.

The section of Highway 8 is now open and emergency services have cleared the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
