The Municipality of Brockton says it continues to work with external agencies as it addresses a "unique flooding situation" in the small community of Pinkerton.
According to a statement issued Tuesday by Mayor Chris Peabody, the flooding "was caused by a breach in a privately owned dyke following recent rainfall and snowmelt, which has partially redirected the Teeswater River toward three occupied households."
Repairs are expected to take time, as elevated water levels have limited access to the site, including closing Bruce Road 15 in the area.
The Municipality says it remains in an Enhanced Monitoring State, which includes the Municipal Emergency Control Group meeting regularly to assess conditions and coordinate response efforts. Bruce County, Provincial agencies, and Conservation partners are also helping with the response.
A State of Emergency has not been declared at this time, however Mayor Peabody says the safety and well-being of residents remain the highest priority.
Residents can continue to monitor the situation by visiting the Municipality’s Pinkerton Flooding webpage.
