Bruce Power has earned national recognition once again for its efforts to create an inclusive and welcoming workplace.
This marks the sixth year in a row that the company has been named one of Canada’s top employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the organization behind the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.
“At Bruce Power, inclusion is about creating an environment in which people feel respected, supported, and empowered,” said Karen Smith, Senior Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “We’re focused on listening, learning, and taking meaningful action so our workplace continues to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.”
The company continues to develop programs and practices aimed at fostering equality across its workforce. A major part of this strategy involves partnerships with educational institutions and organizations such as Ontario Tech University, Skills Ontario, and Build a Dream, designed to highlight opportunities in STEM fields and encourage greater diversity in engineering and skilled trades.
Bruce Power’s initiatives also extend to its student development programs, which have been strengthened to provide meaningful opportunities for underrepresented groups. The company is supported by several employee-led groups dedicated to promoting inclusion and advancing understanding of diversity, including the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, Indigenous Network, North American Young Generation in Nuclear, Women’s Forum, Mosaic, and Women in Nuclear.
Listening to input from its Women’s Forum, Bruce Power has introduced scholarships to support careers in early childhood education, addressing a growing shortage of qualified childcare providers.
