West Grey police launch Vulnerable Person Registry

The West Grey Police Service has introduced a Vulnerable Person Registry aimed at improving safety and police response for some of the community’s most at-risk residents.

The registry is a voluntary and confidential program that allows individuals, families, or caregivers to share important information with police in advance of an emergency. This can include details such as communication needs, medical considerations, behavioural triggers, or emergency contact information.

Police say having access to this information ahead of time can help officers better understand the needs of vulnerable individuals when responding to calls. As a result, interactions can be more informed and compassionate, and situations may be resolved more safely and efficiently.

The goal of the Vulnerable Person Registry is to reduce stress for residents and first responders alike, while enhancing overall understanding and safety within the community. More information on how to register will be provided to those who inquire by contacting the police station directly.

According to a Facebook post from WGPS, the initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to building a safer West Grey for everyone.
