Attack trade George to Greyhounds

The Owen Sound Attack have traded a fan favourite, sending goalie Carter George to the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds for a boatload of draft picks.

The Los Angeles Kings prospect spent the last four seasons in Owen Sound, appearing in 135 games, compiling a 57-55-17 record and a .907 save percentage.

George has just returned from another World Junior Hockey Championship tournament with Team Canada, where he won a bronze medal. The Attack have lost seven of eight games since he left for Minnesota.

In return, Owen Sound receives seven draft picks over the next four years, three second round picks, two third round picks and two fourth round picks.

"I’m incredibly grateful for my time with the Attack," said Carter in a Greyhounds media release. "I’d like to thank all my coaches, teammates, fans and the entire organization for giving me all the opportunities and developing me into the player and person I am today. I will always remember the memories created in Owen Sound."

Barring any other moves, it will be Trenten Bennett and Matthew Koprowski between the pipes for Attack for the remainder of the season.

Owen Sound is back in action Wednesday night, hosting a Guelph Storm team that is just three points behind in the standings. That pivitol game goes at 7 p.m.
