The Town of Saugeen Shores has introduced its Ready-to-Build Housing Designs, a new program aimed at simplifying the process of developing homes that complement the community’s unique character.
Created in partnership with Invizij Architects and Tim Welch Consulting, the initiative features four pre-approved accessory residential unit (ARU) designs, along with three options for missing middle housing, including duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes. These designs cater to a variety of housing needs, from multigenerational living and downsizing to rental opportunities, while encouraging sustainable growth and vibrant neighbourhoods. Each design has been crafted to reflect the Town’s character and meets both the Ontario Building Code and local zoning regulations.
“By offering ready-to-build designs, we’re making it easier and more affordable for residents to unlock the potential of their own property while contributing to a growing and diverse housing landscape,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “This initiative provides a head start by streamlining the planning review process and reducing costs.”
The full catalogue includes detailed floor plans and renderings. Residential property owners interested in moving forward with development can request the complete construction package through the Town’s website at www.saugeenshores.ca/Ready-to-Build.
The project was made possible with funding from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) and Bruce Power’s SEED Funding program. It represents one of eight strategic initiatives under Saugeen Shores’ broader HAF plan, aimed at accelerating the creation of diverse and attainable housing.
