"Coldest Night of the Year" returning to Midwestern Ontario in 2026

The annual United Way "Coldest Night of the Year" event will make a return in February.

United Way Perth Huron shared in a press release that the event will be coming back to Wingham on Saturday, February 28.

The fifth annual event in Wingham, which is also held in numerous other communities that United Way operates in, is a walk supporting vulnerable individuals experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness.

Families, service clubs, church groups, workplaces, sports teams and more are encouraged to visit cnoy.org, register a team and start fundraising. Participants raising over $150, or $75 for youth under 18, receive a CNOY toque.

All funds raised in Wingham will directly support the North Huron Connection Centre. It provides essential services, like light meals, showers, washroom facilities and laundry, along with support through partnerships with local social service agencies.

"We’re looking forward to this year’s event," said Lisa Harper, UWPH Manager of Community Development, Northern Huron. "Chronic homelessness is still a major issue in the region and funds raised during Coldest Night will go toward UWPH’s Northern Huron Connection Centre (NHCC) in Wingham. We invite everyone to walk and help us reach our $40,000 goal."

If you, or your organization, would like to sponsor Wingham CNOY, contact Lisa Harper at lharper@perthhuron.unitedway.ca or call 519-357-6795.
