Crash involving pick-up and horse and buggy causes serious injuries

Perth County OPP say serious injuries were sustained by those in a horse drawn buggy that was hit by a pick-up truck Sunday afternoon.

According to the OPP, police responded alongside Perth County EMS, Perth East Fire Department, and Waterloo Regional Police Service to a motor vehicle collision on Perth Road 116 near Perth Line 72 near Wellesley at 4:30 p.m. on December 14.

Police say a pick-up struck a horse and buggy that was carrying four passengers, and all four sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

One of the passengers was later transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to another trauma centre for treatment of life threatening injuries. The driver of the pick-up was uninjured.

Perth Road 116 was temporarily closed as police investigated the crash, but has since reopened.

Perth County OPP are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
