The Municipality of Kincardine is set to begin work on the Station Beach Boardwalk improvement project.
According to a press release from the municipality, work will begin in early December and will continue into early spring of 2026 as weather permits.
This project will include replacing the section of boardwalk that runs from the boat launch to just before the south washroom, along with relocating certain portions of the boardwalk slightly closer to the existing parking area.
That will allow for new dune formation that will aim to keep more sand on the beach and reduce the amount of sand that gets onto the boardwalk and into the parking area.
Stamped concrete will be installed only at the main access points, while the majority of the new boardwalk will remain wood.
There will be fenced off areas during construction to ensure public safety. The beach and parking areas will remain open.
"This work represents a significant investment in the long-term health and enjoyment of Station Beach," said Luke Bedard, Director of Community Services. "By replacing aging sections of the boardwalk, improving accessibility, and creating new dune areas, we’re building a more resilient and welcoming waterfront. We appreciate everyone’s patience as construction moves forward."
