Bluewater District School Board invites public input on new Kincardine school

The Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is inviting the public to give more input on the design of a new school in Kincardine.

With progress continuing on the replacement for Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS), input on design elements of the school is being welcomed.

Students, staff, families, and others in the community may visit Bluewater District School Board’s website between now and Friday, October 24, 2025, to view the preliminary floor plan and renderings for the two-storey Grade 7 to 12 school.

In order to reduce costs and save time, the school board approved a slightly modified "repeat design" of the John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover, which Bluewater District School Board calls "an architecturally exceptional and modernized facility which has been warmly received by area students, staff, and families."

This consultation process includes a dedicated email address for people to send in questions and idea suggestions. The email is kdssdesignreview@bwdsb.on.ca.

The KDSS replacement is being funded by the Ministry of Education and will have capacity for 881 students. With a location set now for the build, a site plan will be submitted sometime this winter for review and approval.
