The Council of the Township of Georgian Bluffs has named Ryan Thompson as its new Chief Administrative Officer.
Council made the announcement official in a media release on September 9. Thompson will assume his role as of October 6.
Thompson has over 25 years of experience in the public sector, including leadership positions in child and family services and more than two decades on Georgian Bluffs Council.
He stepped back from his council seat earlier this year to participate as an applicant in the CAO recruitment process, and officially resigned from council on September 5 in order to take on this new position. A report will be brought forward to Council in the near future to outline options for filling the vacancy.
Thompson also most recently served as Director of Service at Bruce Grey Child and Family Services.
"Ryan’s extensive experience, collaborative approach, and deep roots in our community make him well-suited to lead our organization," said Mayor Sue Carleton. "We’re excited to begin this next chapter with him at the helm."
