Gallery Night at the Movies returns for 28th season in Owen Sound

The Tom Thomson Art Gallery is celebrating the return of its popular Gallery Night at the Movies program, now entering its 28th season.

In partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival, the series brings Canadian, foreign, and independent films to Owen Sound, screened at Galaxy Cinemas from September through April. This year’s season includes nine films, with fall dates set for September 22, October 20, November 10, and December 8. Each film will be shown at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. Five winter dates will be announced later this year. The first screening will be for the show, The Life of Chuck, on September 22.

"With almost three decades of film screenings, Gallery Night at the Movies is one of the TOM’s most enduring programs," said Aidan Ware, Director and Chief Curator of the Gallery. "Film, like visual art, has the power to challenge, inspire, and connect us, and this series continues to create space for shared experiences that expand perspectives and spark meaningful conversations.”

Mayor Ian Boddy also praised the program’s impact. “Gallery Night at the Movies has become a much-loved tradition in Owen Sound, enriching our community by bringing world-class cinema to our doorstep," he said. "Programs like this not only entertain – they strengthen our cultural fabric, support our local gallery, and create opportunities for residents to come together.”

Season passes are on sale now for $150, or $135 for Supporters Circle Members, and include a $50 donation receipt. Individual screening tickets will be available two to three weeks prior to each show.

As an Official Film Circuit Centre, the program not only gives local audiences access to films that may not otherwise be screened in the region, but also supports Canadian filmmakers and distributors by extending the reach of their work.
