The City of Owen Sound is starting the process of replacing most of its water meters in the coming years.
According to the city, the majority of the current water meters in residential properties have reached the end of their operational lifespan.
In response, Owen Sound is undertaking a mass replacement project, which will see it install new meters it says will reduce the time required for readings, enable residents to monitor their water usage more effectively, detect possible leaks, and facilitate a potential transition to monthly billing.
In December, council awarded a $3.65 million contract for the multi-year Water Meter Replacement Project to Neptune Technology Group.
Residents and property owners will soon receive letters notifying them to schedule their meter replacement appointments. The installation process typically takes 30 to 90 minutes to complete and appointments can be arranged to fit individual schedules.
The City says letters are expected to begin being sent out in the next few weeks but as the work will be done in zones for efficiency purposes, don’t worry if you don’t receive one right away.
