Impaired driving charges laid after rollover near Bayfield

A 22-year-old South Bruce man is facing impaired driving charges after an overnight single-vehicle rollover south of Bayfield.

Huron OPP were called to the collision on Highway 21 (Bluewater Highway) at Blue Bluffs Road just before 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle approximately 100 metres from the road in a field. According to police, there was evidence the vehicle had rolled, although they did not speculate how many times.

No injuries were reported.

A South Bruce man is charged with driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mg of blood, dangerous driving, and failure to have an insurance card. Additionally, the man's driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for one week.

The man is scheduled to appear in Goderich court in relation to the charges on April 7.

Police remind anyone who suspects someone of impaired driving, whether by alcohol or drugs, to call 911 immediately.
