The Town of Ashfield-Colbourne-Wawanosh says the Benmiller Softball program will continue thanks to the support of a newly recruited volunteer team.
The Town warned last month that the youth programming would have to end without new volunteers offering to take up some of the organizing. As a result of that appeal, 11 individuals have stepped forward to volunteer for various roles in the program.
Mayor Glen McNeil thanked all those involved.
"This is really, really good news," he told council. "Thank you very much to all of the individuals that have stepped forward to be a part of the committee... we put out the second request for volunteers and the community answered this, so thank you very much for that, for the benefit of our youth."
Registration for the 2025 season is now open online. The regular registration deadline to avoid a $30 late fee is March 31.
