Michel Lacroix of Blyth is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a $1 million prize in the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Draw on December 21, 2024.
Michel, a longtime lottery enthusiast, has been playing the lottery for 40 years. The father, grandfather, and great-grandfather enjoys various games, including Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, and Lottario. Sometimes he plays his own numbers, and other times he opts for Quick Picks. This time, his ticket delivered his first major win.
“I was at the store when I scanned my ticket and discovered I had won,” Michel shared during his visit to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his prize. “I was frozen in shock, yet surprisingly calm. I had to be, as I still had a 20-minute drive home ahead of me. When I arrived home, I shared the incredible news with my wife. She was beyond excited, maybe even more than I was.”
Michel described his emotions after years of playing.
“After many years of playing, winning this prize feels great! The experience is hard to explain. It’s overwhelming, but in the best way possible,” he said.
Looking ahead, Michel plans to use his winnings to purchase a home.
The winning ticket was purchased at Zehrs on Huron Road in Goderich.
