People venturing outside Wednesday morning are once again being advised to dress warmly.
An extreme cold warning is still in effect for Huron County, Perth County, Grey County, Wellington County, and south Bruce County.
Environment Canada has stated that an arctic air mass that moved into the region at the start of the week, bringing bitterly cold conditions, is continuing to keep windchill values near minus 30 C.
While moderate temperatures are forecast for late in the morning Wednesday, the national weather agency advises those heading outside for any amount of time to wear layers, with a wind resistant outer layer. This will help prevent cold-related illnesses such as frostbite, which can develop within minutes on exposed skin.
Symptoms of cold-related illness include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
In the Bruce Peninsula, a snow squall warning is still in effect with another 5 to 10 centimetres possible throughout the day and up to an additional 25 centimetres in the evening into Thursday.
While there are no road closures, all school buses in Grey-Bruce and some in Huron-Perth have been cancelled for the day. There are also several school closures including the Listowel Christian School, Bruce Peninsula public, Bruce Peninsula District in Lion’s Head, Peninsula Shores District in Wiarton, and St. Edmunds Public in Tobermory.
