Woman shoveling snow seriously hurt in chain-reaction crash

A chain-reaction crash in Owen Sound sent a woman who was shoveling snow to hospital with serious injuries.

According to Owen Sound police, a vehicle was on 8th Street East when it rear-ended a parked car that had its hazard lights activated around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The force of the crash sent the car into another parked vehicle and a 24-year-old woman who was outside shoveling snow.

The woman was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to London hospital for treatment. Her injuries are described as serious.

All three vehicles involved in the crash had to be towed from the scene, police said.

A 29-year-old man, who remained at the scene, is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.
